Old School Swag!

The marriage/civil union of music and fashion goes waaay back! So, today we just want to take a little time to remember the origin of today's fashion trends and the trendsetters as well as the ones that have died away. Don't tell me that you've forgotten about Madonna's trendsetting net spandex tops or her head bands, how about those calf-length black leggings (you can still get away with rockin those). Oh yes, those were the good ole 80's, wish I could've been alive to witness such epicness. We can't reminisce on 80's style without bringing up Run DMC...we just can't. These fly fellas were just that...fly. It kinda all started with their song "My Adidas," this song became the reason behind the "out-the-roof" sales of Adidas shoe wear. Lyrics like "me and my Adidas do the illest things, we like to stomp out pimps with diamond rings," made people feel like they could do anything with them on. With their rise of fame came the popularity of their now highly recognized track-suits, black hats, t-shirts, etc. Now let's bring it down to the 90's: French Prince popularized the baseball cap, while rap duo,  Kid 'n Play, made the high-top hair-do the best thing since sliced bread. However, I wouldn't be doing the 90's justice if I didn't mention Rock music and its fashion impact. Rock Bands such as Metallica, AC/DC, Poison were the official trend setters of sleeveless rock band t-shirts and Nirvana revolutionized the grundge look (still popular today). More recently, Jenny from the block and P-Diddy (remember when they dated lol), Gwen Stefani (fan of her style) were major fashion fashionistas. Currently, Rihanna and Lady Gaga are doing their thing with no shame, showing young ladies everywhere that it's okay to be yourself. Take a look!

A Young Madonna: Check out the ballerina skirt and peep the large bangles...Plain and simple....Fashionista!

Tune it up!

HEY THERE! So since music and fashion are synonymous, today we thought we would highlight all the amazing music/albums from talented artists that has come out this month and February. Please share with us your music list (at kouturekulture@gmail.com) and we'll post them (please leave your first name). We want to make sure we highlight all types of music so please hit us up!

These are my personal favorites:

FEBRUARY RELEASES:
I honestly don't have a favorite song because I loved EVERY song! The girl is a beautiful talent not to mention a gorgeous British lady. I'm a HUGE fan and I'm always pulling for her success. So if you haven't copped this album, jump on it! KEEP DOING YOUR THING GIRL! WE LOVE YOU :)

This is Adele's sophomore album: Released on February 21( not a coincidence I'm sure)
MARCH RELEASES:
He is one of the most lyrically talented MCs (and a personal favorite). His newest album, I'll be real, did not showcase his talent in the best way. It was very mainstream, which is not Lupe's style (at least prior). It had a lot of features, one of  them being Trey Songz, if you are a fan of Lupe, you know that this in itself is out of character. Nevertheless, because I love anything and everything Lupe, I love his album and will remain a fan. Get it if you haven't already, you won't regret it. :)

This is Lupe Fiasco's third album: Released March 7
After two years of waiting and waiting teambreezy finally got what they've been waiting for...F.A.M.E. This highly anticipated album has had great reviews so far and we can't wait to see the success it will have in the days to come. I have not gotten this album just yet, however, I'm a fan and I know it will be FIRE based on the various mixed tapes, singles, and features he's released. Personally, I am pulling for Breezy's success, so GOT GET 'EM BREEZY! Don't forget to get F.A.M.E...show your support teambreezy :)

F.A.M.E. is Chris Brown's fourth album: Released March 22
J. HUD!! Nothing but talent! Her sophomore album, "I Remember Me," came out today and guess what??? It's greeeaat! If you jam to anything J. Hud then you'll definitely enjoy this this album! She's been to hell and back so show your support and buy it ladies and Gentlemen :)
"I Remember Me" is Jennifer Hudson's sophomore album
