The marriage/civil union of music and fashion goes waaay back! So, today we just want to take a little time to remember the origin of today's fashion trends and the trendsetters as well as the ones that have died away. Don't tell me that you've forgotten about Madonna's trendsetting net spandex tops or her head bands, how about those calf-length black leggings (you can still get away with rockin those). Oh yes, those were the good ole 80's, wish I could've been alive to witness such epicness. We can't reminisce on 80's style without bringing up Run DMC...we just can't. These fly fellas were just that...fly. It kinda all started with their song "My Adidas," this song became the reason behind the "out-the-roof" sales of Adidas shoe wear. Lyrics like "me and my Adidas do the illest things, we like to stomp out pimps with diamond rings," made people feel like they could do anything with them on. With their rise of fame came the popularity of their now highly recognized track-suits, black hats, t-shirts, etc. Now let's bring it down to the 90's: French Prince popularized the baseball cap, while rap duo, Kid 'n Play, made the high-top hair-do the best thing since sliced bread. However, I wouldn't be doing the 90's justice if I didn't mention Rock music and its fashion impact. Rock Bands such as Metallica, AC/DC, Poison were the official trend setters of sleeveless rock band t-shirts and Nirvana revolutionized the grundge look (still popular today). More recently, Jenny from the block and P-Diddy (remember when they dated lol), Gwen Stefani (fan of her style) were major fashion fashionistas. Currently, Rihanna and Lady Gaga are doing their thing with no shame, showing young ladies everywhere that it's okay to be yourself. Take a look!
